Absolutely. Without question. Hit some more hyperboles. If it's funded by the industry it purports to research, it is rare beyond rare that results the industry doesn't wish to see get published. It's not conflict of interest. It is the interest of the research to make a case for industry claims. Pretty simple.

Government funded gives it some distance from the industry. In these days of bed sharing by industry and government regulators, the distance is fairly short, but it's there and can be restored a bit further under administrations that don't conflate the distance too much.
