They first assassinated Clinton's character to take voters complacent minds off 7 years of peace and prosperity. Then they went after Gore and brought him down just enough by inventing lies about him. The right-wing was angry and determined. Just like the Democrats are for 2004. Gore and Lieberman were just weak and complacent enough, Nader was just strong enough, they created a phony energy crisis to dampen the economy plus the Bushies definitely cheated in Florida, the key state. Voila, they "won". Then they stole last November's election using the rush into the Iraq War.
