I have a 30:06 that has been identified by the Remington museum as one produced for the French Army in 1917. The rifle is in perfect condition.

I used to drill with one in the "Pershing Rifles" in College Air Force ROTC. They kicked me out for wearing glasses in 53, and that's when I went in, was issued a typewriter, and became a "Remington Raider" in Germany. Held the Fulda Gap with a "Grease Gun." :>)
