Hi TigerPaw,

RE: <<I think the U.S. could compete with additional robotic technology.>>

But then that will take away jobs in the long run. It is just the way it is. . As all improvements in technology increases productivity..

So what is needed, IMO, is a whole new structuring and philosophy toward WORK..A world summit of epic proportions is needed to address this.. Developed nations need to understand that undeveloped nations are coming on board fast.. They need a piece of the action.. So who gives it up, the ones that have. A leveling is taking place, it can't be stopped..

We have to give up some of our standard of living to those that need it..And in doing so our work week will be less, more play time.. :).. We should embrace the fact that technology makes our life easier, more pleasant and fun.. Not fight it...

We all know, that for the last thousand years, a single person can produce more than he can consume and that has gradually increase.. Now that "productivity curve" is reaching parabolic proportions.

We, the US and the western world have benefited the most, (standard of living-wise) in the last 100 years or so because we were ahead of the "curve" . We could produce and sell our stuff around the world. Now the "world" can make enough their own and plenty of other's stuff.. It is just the way it is.

We just have to relax and enjoy all the time that is freed up by technology.. :)

This just a summary of my thoughts on this huge issue that SHORTLY will have to be addressed honestly and objectively.
