Thank you very much Phil --- I'm sure I'm blushing!
> I think the dollar is sliding, it is policy. All they want to do is to control the slide
Sorry, I don't believe ANYTHING they say.
> It may slide much deeper then anyone expects
Yes, it may do (some speak of $1.3 to the Euro) but, as of now, what I see will be some volatility, both ways, and a lot of talk.
> ....before the US sees any jobs benefit
These guys don't give a stuff about anyone except themselves --- and, in fact, they are quite outspoken about it. Their constituency is big business and my opinion, which I mentioned to Darleen, is that big business wants to reduce, not increase, jobs in America. It's not only a way to reduce inflation, it's a way of social control and making those who have jobs very appreciative. No-one will rock the boat. Of course, the regime will say anything to kid the voters that it is trying to create conditions for an increase in employment --- but jobs for manufacturing will only be seen in China, not the US. The new jobs in the US will be in the military or para-military and if Americans want employment they can go to Iraq or Liberia --- in a uniform.
> The US needs to create jobs. That is it's only salvation
That's in the "old" US, where people mattered, where the Constitution mattered, where people had Rights, where the government maintained a modicum of honesty. In the "new" US, all that matters is debt --- and power. It's like Alice Through the Looking -glass --- everything is back-to-front from what we used to believe. The present US regime has terrorized its populace into submission and is creating/has created a security apparatus to maintain control by force. They may be dishonest so-and-so's but they know what they are doing --- and why.
> They are in a box. They have been there for some time, and as the monthly current account and deficit/debt figures are released, more and more attention and importance will be placed upon this problem.
I don't think it worries them, not too much, anyway. In fact, I think they are delighted with their achievements --- the US is engaged in permanent war (with anyone and everyone and for any reason, real or imagined), the people (and their children and grandchildren) are imprisoned in debt and even if the present clique loses the next election there is nothing the Democrats can do to extricate the US from these commitments. The banks, oil barons and military-industrial complex reign supreme and the American people are enslaved physically and financially --- and they still believe they are "free".
If the truth be told I think the Establishment has a lot to be pleased about. W has served them well. |
