Sofa,
Having lived through the lack of Common Sense Revolution I'd have to say I prefer Harper without hesitation even though as you all likely know I'm no fan of his either.

Harris has lead a party to success in two elections - During boom times with visions of tax cuts and small government .. IMO he just lucked out. Notice he did exit stage left at an opportune time..

Seems in this country at least we tend to 'throw out' incumbents rather than elect leaders.. BTW I voted for Harris (fool me twice shame on me) being not quite so jaded at that time ;o) Then again I also voted NDP the year RAE got elected as a protest.. boy did that bite as my wife works in health care... can you say wage rollback...

The Tories in Ontario unfortunately offered nothing new but simplistic and / or naive initiatives with little meat, damaged the GTA with amalgamation and judging from the Liberal signage in my typically conservative Scarborough east neighbourhood (we were considered one of the most likely to elect Alliance federally) alienated many folks.

As an aside I'd be interested to hear Westerners' impressions of Harris. My family is mainly in Québec and I know they regarded him as a bit of a buffoon. I don't think he has the right stuff to do the job although I agree he may have the right stuff to fool the people and once again I'll suffer the perils of of someone else's vote... Having voted for Rae though I guess I can't mud sling LOL. at least I liked the guy. Look at Eves media presence... his handlers dropped the ball there.. He looks like a used car salesman..

regards
Kastel
