The problem the Dems have is that they don't have an operative as good as him.

The shelf life of good political operatives is extremely short. There is more than one moment during the 00 campaign in which luck rather than political skill turned the tide. Ditto for 02.

I still think that the argument that Bush's only serious political strength is his credibility is a good one. And as that goes, it will snowball down. There is a metaphor for it that I can't find. The Iraq wmds is serious stuff in the credibility department; that in turn undermines the Orwellian bit they have with environmental issues; which in turn bounces back to undermine the Iraqi credibility; and to get juice for another round of doubts about just how serious they are with the deficit. And so on.
