On a personal note: what struck a more and more uncomfortable note with me on my repeat visits to Granada, were the Christian statements or assertions(could not find better/more neutral words), for instance the absolutely depressing Charles V palace:"This is one of the emperor's projects for the city of Granada. The choice of the Alhambra for its construction shows the king's awareness of the beauty of the Arab places and his interest in preserving them for posterity."

(from alhambra.org site)

Beauty, my foot! Interest, harhar! For me the building is nothing but an assertion of absolute power by the fidei defensor, targeting the place itself and anybody remotely connected with pre-Reconquista conditions. And the quote above nothing but a professional spin to cover up the incongruities cast in stone.
