Dean is far too easy for the Republicans to beat. Remember how they stole the November elections? They started up the war drums and made national defense the only issue. They were even able to brand war heros like Max Cleland as unpatriotic to gullible swing-voters.

Dean is so-so easy for them to brand as weak on defense. After all, he a little Vermonter, an elitist who never served his country and was against taking out Saddam. He also said "Hamas are soldiers". That alone disqualifies him from running against Bush. Imagine the Bush TV ads repeating that line over and over juxtaposed against terrorist atrocities and OBL's face.

Kerry-Clark is a far more potent and unassailable combination. Together they are unbeatable. Harold ford who is Kerry's co-chairman stated Kerry-Clark would be the best team on Tv the other day. So you know they know that.

Also, why would Clark help Dean? Clark is #1 now in the polls, at least the #1 outsider and Dean is slipping fast. Dean will be lucky to win one primary in the end.
Clark has taken maybe 25% of his support away, and Kerry and others will eat away at the rest.

Bottomline, the party powers do not want Dean anywhere near the nomination. They know Bush can beat him. Nothing against Dean otherwise, but that's the bottomline and no one in power is going to help Dean in any way from now on. On the contrary. Dean and his core followers will find things very lonely. More and more you will see stories echoing these remarks of mine in the press. Insiders already know it's a fait accompli. Dean still leads in some polls, but with six months to go, he would have to perform a miracle to return to frontrunner status. Also, he will never get the free media boost or fundraising he got in August again, never. Not even close.
