Hard to believe this is still being discussed. Harder still to believe that anyone could look at the numbers and claim Bush actually got more votes.
Nationally, Bush got 50,456,002 votes, which amounted to 47.87% of the total.
Gore got 50,999,897 votes, which amounted to 48.38% of the total.
In Florida, the margin of "victory" was within the margin of error of ANY counting method you could possibly devise, so it's simply not factually correct to say that anyone won that state.
Just the facts, Ma'am.
And by the way, is there something wrong with the people in urban areas? Should we not consider their votes to be as important as the votes of people in small towns and rural areas?
