FWIW, those Tribune reporters claim:

A typical CEO search takes at least four months, so Galvin's predecessor may not be named until early next year.

I suspect the pressure from the Board has been on for some time, and to demonstrate the "success" or progress of the turnaround which never happened, the return to profitability was pushed by "prior management". With a new CEO the books will quickly be cleaned, but the net value on a breakup will be less than $10 per share. I would guess $7.50.

The bullish commentary from Investment Bankers is their play to get some of the banking business. IMO.
