Hey pal, I've been rich and poor, and I paid a lot more percentage-wise when I was an average working stuff than I did when was making windfalls. Thanks to all the tax loopholes and being able to avoid payroll tax and withholdings by incorporating yourself, the rich have it easier. If you're a working stuff, you get about 40% taken out of your paycheck and you're lucky to see any of it back. When you're upper income, you have a bad acountant if you pay more than 25%.
