Yes - I agree that it is a good thing that Powell (et. al.) are making some kind of commitment. But don't kid yourself -

1) The timing of his commitments are more geared for the Nov '04 election than they are by any clear path (or did you miss the part about elections 6 months after the constitution i.e. Oct. '04).

2) They had steadfastly refused to give any kind of commitments until forced into it by sinking confidence on the part of the US public and cogent criticism on the part of France/UN.

I say no kudos here. And personally I have chosen to lump Powell into the same pit of false morality as the rest of the Bush administration.

FYI - you may want to go back and re-read Friedman's article on the French "war". He really missed the mark on that one.
