Phil > Let us not confuse jobs with recovery, my friends. For America's economy to recover, we must cut jobs at all cost.

Sure. Someone finally woke up. Economic recovery has nothing to do with people, nor with production. What I can't understand is why it has taken so long for someone to see it.

What people, generally, don't seem to realize is that employment and production are components of the "old" economy --- the one where people learned to do something that others wanted and then, when they were paid to do that thing, that was called an economy. And the more people who were being paid to do things which others wanted, the more the economy grew. That was what the game was all about. Working hard and being paid for it.

The "new" economy is completely different. It is based on the printing of money and the telling of fairy-tales by those who print the money eg CNBC. Both the amount of money which can be printed and the stories which can be told are unlimited. Hence the economy can grow forever and at whatever rate the one who prints the money decides. At present, people are still needed at the printing press and in the media which tells people about their wealth, liberty and also, if they don't behave properly, terrorists. But soon those jobs will be computerized and then everyone will have unlimited freedom.

In the "new" economy people are employed only if they want to be and not because they have to be. In other words, if they prefer some kind of work to crime or doing drugs, as in South Africa. At present, there are only three kinds of jobs available --- lawyers, politicians and policemen. Those who like violence can become policemen, those who like telling lies can become politicians and those who like counting money can become lawyers. Those who still want to be engineers can go to China and those who want to be doctors can go to Africa to treat people with AIDS but these don't count and are not necessary for the economy to function.

Oh, I nearly forgot to mention how one gets money to live?

By voting for George Bush, of course. He's paying $100,000 in freshly printed bills to each one who votes for him in the next election.
