John, you're no doubt following a Cheny misquote similar to these....

Actually, I'm not, at least not in this response to Karen. The list of secrecy claims to genuine political news by this White House is rather wrong but the item which immediately jumps to mind is the illbegotten energy task force malarkey.

As for this material, it's self evident that the Bush administration and certainly Cheney have tried to seduce the American public into believing that Saddam was directly connected to 9-11. I still am surprised that Bush would so publicly disavow that. Particularly given the effort they had put into it.

There is no doubt now, Michael, that when this administration hollers wolf again in some sort of parallel moment to the Iraq invasion, it's going to take a great deal more evidence. The public vetting of the claims will be extensive.
