What you describe is "a farce." That is to say, it might look one way on the newswires, but reality differs. The "Civilization" card game that Activision apparently bought rights to was not the one from Microprose. In fact, this card game already came out (a year or more ago) as a game entitled "Advanced Civilization" which didn't sell well at all...

And, by the way DO NOT trust Individual Investor -- they were touting INFORMIX a while back. Look at the performance chart for the so-called "Magic 25"...what a joke! Since Informix knew what was coming, I think they got Individual Investor to play along...likewise, what "bomb" is coming up in Activision's case?
