Ted, the cost of Iraq is nothing compared to how much the prescription drug benefit for Medicare will cost. $400B anyone? Why did Republicans vote for this benefit? Because few Republicans want to be accused of not caring for spiraling costs of prescription drugs. It's similar to the reason why Democrats voted for funding the Iraq war, because few Democrats want to be accused of being soft on terrorism. So every politician gets what he or she wants, but then the deficit grows and both sides blame each other. Tenchusatsu
