Jay, not only do I want to stop such crazy ideas before they go critical, literally, I want to understand them and see how many like-minded people there are. As you have tirelessly pointed out, when push comes to shove, a lot of MAD people do decide that pushing, shoving and fighting are good responses to economic dislocation and market clearing and equilibrating. If they can't be dissuaded from their MAD ideas [Mutual Assured Destruction as per Dr Strangelove] then it's as well to be prepared for them = perhaps with a stash of gold and platinum bars and coins.
It's disconcerting to see even one person coming up with such ideas. And it's spring time here. While one swallow doesn't make a summer, it's not long before one lamb is suddenly surrounded by thousands of gamboling newborns. Or, one day, there's a fly in the living room. Not many weeks later, they are buzzing everywhere. If one appears, there's likely to be more.
That's a bit like sars = nothing to worry about, until the old exponential curve has traveled along to the part where it starts zooming unstoppably skyward.
Many things in nature start slowly and might be nipped in the bud, but if left can become relentless, unstoppable, rapid, huge and fatal.
Xenophobic protectionist economic ignorance combined with militaristic mindset aggression is fatal.
