No I don't think what you are saying is naive, I think rather that it is an intelligent intentional rhetorical tactic.

Thank you...but somehow I didn't think you meant to complement me...in fact I know you did not. It may surprise you to learn that a more moderate Republican, like McCain for example, would probably garner my vote and more importantly my approval, given the right circumstances. Do you know why? Because he he strikes me as a man with a mind of his own who would influence his own policies and because I am fairly certain that he would not surround himself with odious and arrogant ideologues.
