Could you quote what he said? I don't remember anything like that. He did say he would veto any approval of an invasion. I don't recall anything about "holding Iraq more accountable".

How so? The UN Security Council Res. 1441 that you feel so strongly about was on Iraq's WMDs and their surveillance.

He was not in compliance with 1441 and hadn't been for a long time

And you seem to feel that warrants an invasion by the US. There are two small problems with that:

(1) Many other countries are in violation of UN Sec Council resolutions, most notably, US allies Israel and Turkey.
(2) If something is to be done about it, it is only the UN, who issued the said resolution, that can rightfully do it. Not the US. Especially not the US in clear defiance of the UN, which refused to support the said invasion.

As for quoting the Simpsons I had no idea that came from there as I've never watched them

I will tell you where - it is so often quoted everywhere on your media that you got used to it.

It's obvious that you relish anything that even hints of a failure in US policy and I don't.

I don't see what makes you think that. If US policy fails, we are all in bad trouble. We are discussing here whether or not it can be improved.
