Um, didn't they try that? wasn't it read as weakness? didn't it lead to the current intifada? Tom Friedman loves to talk as if it were low-risk for Israel to try such ideas, because they're "strong". If you open your arms to someone and he hits you in the face, of course you're not going to stand so close the next time.

Why doesn't Tom at least wait until the "terrorist bum" is no longer running the show for the Palestinians, before making these suggestions?
