Yes, the Pentagon really wants them in Iraq. Along with Indians (to do in Iraq, what they've failed in 50 years of trying in Kashmir), and Turks (to piss off the Kurds), and Bangladesh (which fought a nasty war of independence against Pakistan). Soldiers from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, they will all mesh nicely, don't you think? All pulling in harness together, to rid the world of terrorism. Right.

It's stupid, but it's consistent with past patterns of stupidity.

I'm surprised they haven't asked Israel for some troops, to patrol the Shiite holy cities.
