Hawkmoon This administration has done and is doing irreparable damage to the U.S. domestically and internationally. We will suffer the fallout for generations. On North Korea,we reneged on a deal for oil food and power plants and acted shocked when they resumed their nuclear program. High ranking Chinese officials are in Pyongyang working out a deal that will include a nuclear weapon free peninsula and U.S concessions. China will give the U.S. cover to begin withdrawal from South Korea at some convenient point. The adventure in Afghanistan and Iraq were undertaken with absolutely no concept of consequences on the part of the administration. There were plenty of warnings from the State Department and intelligence services that we were making a serious blunder. As Jay might say, Capitalist democracies are not, Islam is. The only lines in the sand this administration cares about are pipelines. I agree that we are involved in a cultural conflict with Islam. You don't try and nip a quarter of the world's population in the bud. Military force is a waste of time, money and lives. I think that some of our ex-colonial (ex friends) former allies have a better grasp of the problems we are creating for ourselves. We have to recognize the cultural conflict with Islam and confront it. Bombs and bullets will fail as we are seeing in Afghanistan and Iraq. The imposition of political infrastructure that doesn't fit the ideology and lifestyles of a people is doomed to failure. Iraq's oil is a vital, corrupting and cynical U.S. economic interest. The chips are beginning to fall in D.C.
