Wilson Benefits from "Sliding Scale of Truth"

October 1, 2003

In the audio link below, I delve into a Washington Times story on Joseph Wilson, the man sent by "somebody" to go to Niger and investigate the British intelligence claim - which they stand by to this day - that Saddam tried to buy uranium yellowcake in Africa. Originally, it was claimed that Vice President Dick Cheney sent Wilson on this mission - which prompted questions since Wilson is a partisan liberal Democrat who supported Algore in 2000 and supports John F. Kerry for 2004.

The editorial starts with this revealing quote by Joe Wilson himself: "Neo-conservatives and religious conservatives have hijacked this administration, and I consider myself on a personal mission to destroy both." The editorial uses this quote to paint a contrast between the mainstream media's portrayal of Mr. Wilson as a reasonable, disinterested man just trying to do his job and who's super-secret agent wife was nearly killed because someone in the administration hated him. This is also the man who drooled at the possibility of seeing White House political advisor Karl Rove "frog marched out of the White House in handcuffs." (bold added)

He is full of hate, and it should be pointed out. The way this is playing out really causes concern. We need to get to the bottom of this mess before our entire policy in Iraq becomes "a victim of Washington's politics of long knives." Make no mistake about it, there are many that would love to make Bush's Iraq policy turn into a total, abject failure and wouldn't mind that becoming the reality despite the deaths that go with it - all for the sake of their reacquisition of their own political power. That's what you're witnessing, right in front of your very eyes.
