Clarence Thomas is no help to poor minorities. He only helps Clarence. Like Condi Rice and Estrada, these characters are picked out of the crowd of white faces in the GOP and given promotions beyond their expertise. The GOP cherishes their few minority faces and wlays puts them on-stage, but only in the case of Powell (who isn't even a Republican) can one say they deserve to be there. Condi Rice has been a real failure, one of the biggest liars in the White House. She ought to resign. Thomas wouldn't have had a chance at that job unless the GOP was practicing tokenism and trying to make the Democrats reject a black face. Contrast that to the really qualified minorities in the democratic party. No comparison. PS - I noticed the right-wing found a black guy to wheel out to defend Rush Limbaugh. His name must be Uncle Tom. How can you defend such talk?
