Ted, Rush is saying that the media is soft on McNabb because he's a black QB, not just a black player. Forget that blacks have been playing in national sports for years.......because McNabb is a black QB, the muted criticism from the media must be special.

Well, Doug Williams of the Redskins was the only black QB to have ever played in a Super Bowl (and the only one to have won, and the only one to receive MVP status). Others like Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon, and Cordell Stewart have had various degrees of success, but that didn't stop Williams from accusing the NFL of having a latent racism.

That means if Rush's conspiracy theory is to be believed, the NFL is trying to make up for this with some "affirmative action." As for Rush's viewpoint, race isn't even the central issue in many of his rants. The "liberal media" is. Often he goes over the edge with his conspiracy theories, and that sure didn't help him in his ESPN gig. Especially with all of his enemies circling like vultures, waiting for him to make one mistake before swooping in with their attacks.

I'm not saying Rush didn't deserve all of the negative press he got, but I am saying the reaction is way overdone and the standard is double. But here's a thought: What if ESPN replaced Rush with Al Sharpton? ;-)
