Part of the strength could be from technicians buying the the breakout.
The financials are being released after the close on Wednesday, and the investor conference call is scheduled for early the next morning. Management can bring investors up to date on what's been happening and discuss the future outlook at that time. The earnings for the next two quarters are the ones I want to see.
The stock's price action seems to suggest something beyond the above. The only thing I can think of is that the Integrion consortium is close to consumationg a deal to have Checkfree as the sole provider for all of Integrion's back-end bill payment services for the banks in the Integrion (IBM) group. If this were to happen, it would be perceived as being very bullish for CKFR, because it gives them an enormous lock for the foreseeable future, in bill payment for consumer home banking. Also having IBM partnering with Checkfree, gives them a big step up in investor credibility.
