Re: So what's to stop it from just being tossed ? You know where the abduction took place but it's not a panacea...

Good point - seriously - don't laugh - they need a tracker that Arnold had in Total Recall (had to pull the thing out from his nose). Similar in Matrix (the little creature that went into Neo's belly button...).

Basically a way to implant. Heck metal and other substances are in our bodies (post operations), so what is wrong with this? Just have to come up with a number of different "good" places to implant (so that we know not to abduct and slice off the kid's hand) and then randomly place it. I suppose you would say "yeah but the abductor has the reader so knows if the kid is implanted or not".

Don't forget it isn't always "the kids was abducted" but.. the kid got lost in the mall; parent's can't find the kid - because they are in some place they should not be etc etc.

Yes can of worms "big brother" et al - could start a whole tread on just that.

But even the "kid is lost" and for me now "I watch him get on the bus.. but did he make it to school?" Is HUGE! Imagine being able to get a notification of arrival based on the implant passing the boundry of the school... or as you stated "playground".

Finally - two things.

1) There was a case in the states where a guy was about to abduct a teenager - the teenager had the Cell phone with a camera and took a picture of the suspect who drove off -- and was later arrested (positive ID of car plates etc). (parents buy all your kids these phones!!
--- now there are equal stories of kids being "attacked" and their phones "with cameras" stolen parent's ensure your kids do not have these devices!

2) Lets not get top heavy on this.. Hell - if someone wants your car - really really - they will just take it - regardless of "club" or "alarm" or even bystanders. So this is, like many things, a good tool (goal) but not a 100% solution.

Imagine the tax man knowing exactly where you are.... :-O

Sexy.. innOcent Bystander.. yeah right!!!
