Yes. I think it is dishonorable if only as a matter of neglect to let the record stand, unless you approve of his behavior and his efforts to include you as a collegial affiliate who is defined by his self-reported bond of honored fellowship.
People have different ideas about what's dishonorable. We have all the fur flying over the Iraq war to attest to that. You are entitled to your view. I don't think it's dishonorable to stay out of a food fight. Rather, it might be dishonorable to get in because participation gives credence to the fight. But even if I wanted to get in, I haven't been paying close enough attention to weigh in effectively, being disgusted by the whole thing and avoiding it as much as possible.
There is more than one technique for improving thread decorum. My technique in this case, one that I have used often in the past, is to ignore it and hope it dies out.
As I have stated before, I am my own person. We had this discussion before with regards to X. She doesn't speak for me nor am I her momma. I am not Solon's momma either, nor does he speak for me. If something happened that I didn't weigh in on, then you can conclude that either I approved of it, that I disapproved it but didn't choose to speak to it for some reason I considered valid, or that I didn't notice it. All are possible. Sorry. The best I can do is report that I observed some comments by Neo that suggested that Solon compared Mojo's actions to the Holocaust. If so, I can safely say, without having followed the interchange in detail, that I would consider that a bit over the top. Best I can do.
yes I consider it a matter of honor for you to address the comments that I provided and specifically point out where you see them to be invalid, not applicable, or the reverse. And based on those comments resolve between us whether the mojo scenario, as you have alleged is harmful, or not.
I don't think that can be resolved between you and me. I am not a major proponent of the harm scenario. Chris, Solon and X are. I have said repeatedly that I think that Mojo can be safely be left to do his thing as long as he stays under the radar, taking clients only be word of mouth and not hanging out a shingle. Others have a different view. If the question is to be resolved, it will have to be between you and them, although I might participate in such a discussion were it to transpire, assuming anyone at this point has the stomach for it or the interest in it, which may not be the case. All of them made some good points, I thought, in and among the trash, good enough to warrant a thoughtful response from you. Were there an exchange of thoughtful opinions, I do not know which side would prevail. Now, if you want to bring Mojo up above the radar, then I can argue specific potential harms with you. As long as he stays below the radar, I will not argue specific harm. I will always believe that there is general harm, though, as long as there are people in this world who think it's OK to discriminate against certain groups without a reasonable basis. That kind of attitude is a cloud over our society, not a specific harm, but a general one. |
