I think the most likely price for Xilinx in mid January is near $40.
The puts should be well out of the money. So you'll pocket that cash.

And the calls should be worth around $5. So depending on how much they cost, you probably will make 100% on them.

If the price assumption is correct, I guess you'll make around $10k - if the puts fetched $2/each. Meanwhile you have to be prepared to buy $110k of Altera stock if it drops below the put strikes.

So that's around 10% in a few months. Not bad.

Meanwhile, a few days ago I sold some WDC and replaced it with Altera. Well WDC went up 15%, and Altera dropped 20%. About as sub-optimal as one can get.
