... I suppose you could be right, but then again, now many apparently suspect that J6P's vital interests may in fact be compromised merely to satisfy the something or other economic interest of a few of somebody's companies.

I guess it depends on how many people those corporations employ... By definition, J6P has NEVER been a prolific creator of jobs, except when he has enough money to be a consumer...

Corporations create jobs. Jobs provide income. Income provides tax revenue. Taxes provide public services. Public Services (political and social) encourage entrepreneurialship by helping to provide a favorable social context for business and trade (education, legal structure, financial stability... etc).

It would sure be nice to believe that government should be a cradle to grave welfare system where all services are free, paid for by those who economically create more of the wealth in this society.

Until it collapses in upon itself as those wealth creators are disincentivized or take their capital elsewhere.

But even with such an approach, corporations and government leaders are accountable to the general electorate for the performance of the system they have create and manage. Fail to keep J6P happy and you'll find him displaying his displeasure at the voting booth.

Not something we yet see in China.. But do see in Taiwan.
