In addition to appealing to digital set-top-box providers, the modules are
expected to attract PC manufacturers, according to Gleason.
"We already have one U.S. computer manufacturer that will use the GPS
module in its PCs, and we think other PC makers will see this as an efficient
way to bring video into the PC environment," he said.
GPS's road map for digital set-top-box technology calls for a digital cable
front end. Gleason said he expects an announcement on the digital cable box
in the first quarter of next year.
