About 18 Dead in Blast in Israeli City of Haifa Sat October 4, 2003 09:34 AM ET HAIFA (Reuters) - About 18 people were killed in a blast that ripped through a popular restaurant in the northern Israeli city of Haifa on Saturday, medics said. "There are 51 people injured and about 18 dead. Seven people were seriously injured, two were moderately injured and 24 lightly injured," a spokesman from Israel's ambulance service told Reuters. The blast occurred in the high holiday period between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. (Edited by Ralph Boulton)
