John, a couple of things. Wilson himself said in a recent article, that about his 1st date with his wife, she TOLD him she was CIA. If an agent were under cover, WHY would she say that to ANYONE until she was sure he/she had a right to know?

As far as Novak is concerned, I'm surprised he gave her name out in the first place. We've already seen here because of Wilson's Bio I found, posted on the MEI site, that he had her name listed in 2002. She used the name in Europe. He KNEW it would be seen in Europe and the Middle East because of the business he was trying to recruit.

Novak wanted to know WHO sent Wilson to Africa in the first place, and who was the source and PROOF of his statement, there wasn't any purchases....WHY didn't the CIA go themselves? I think THIS is and eventually WILL be the story.

You may not have seen that the Administration has until Tuesday!!! to get all the emails, mail, telephone logs, and all the etcs to the JD! To me that's not a slow walk!!!

To imply that it could be faster, is, I think, disingenuous. The FBI is stretched thin enough these days...covering ports, borders, terrorism in several venues, etc etc etc. The only way it could be faster is to have the entire FBI descend to all the offices, carry out anything they could find, and completely stop all State Department, Administration, CIA, etc work at all levels. After all, this just burst on the scene this last weekend.

Surely THIS isn't what you mean. The terrorists would JUST LOVE that way!

Don't worry...I think Bush is FURIOUS about the entire situation and the leak. He has said so from day one. He HATES leaks....

You said you were surprised they are handling it "this way..." I'm very curious...WHAT other way would you handle it? The Democrats didn't like the Special Counsel or Special Prosecutor office, and it no longer exists. If the Attorney General, by law, has to make up another such office, the Left (and some of the Right) would just truly do more carping, so why bother.

We are still on track for a scenario in which the Bush folk try to slow walk it along, increase the dangers of an active, aggressive coverup taking place, and set themselves up for that charge. I remain surprised they are handling it this way and can still only speculate that it's because this reaches into some place like the VP's office, to Scooter Libby and thus to Cheney. As Chuck Hegel openly implied
