google on 'computer won't start" eh
Well no wonder all my searches on 'troubleshooting' and 'power supply' didnt' work !

I talked to a local computer guy today who claims that today's PC's don't have any voltage regulator's in them hence they are completely at the mercy of the applied line voltage. While I don't completely believe him as he also sells UPS's its been a long time since I did anything electronic in a computer so who knows. Anyway he (unoffically ) advised me to do a visual inspection of the power supply circuitry and said maybe I'll get lucky and be able to see which component moved on to a better place.

For everybody reading, power supplys have life endangering voltages so don't open one up without at least having someone nearby to call 911.

I'll report back later tonight , mission starts in an hour...
