You know what, I have no problem whatsover with those that are Jewish. I'm pretty much an agnostic myself, but why persecute Jews when they work hard, have high moral values, don't deal drugs, commit crimes or anything else for that matter. These people pay taxes, don't lie cheat and steal.
thanks for your reply. i think your post is self-explanatory. you admit that you don't believe in God, so i am left to assume that your basis of morality must come from elsewhere. the most logical assumption would be that it arises from the minds of men. in my opinion, herein lies the problem. if men set the standards of morality, as opposed to a higher authority, why should men submit to the moral wishes of other men? what makes one man's idea of morality carry anymore validity than another's? that is why you need an objective standard of morality that comes from someone of greater authority than man. my personal belief is the only authority higher than men is God.
as for your blanket generalizations of jews, i'm sure you won't get any complaints from other posters because your generalizations were all positive stereotypes. now for the sake of argument, let's say that i took your blanket statement and reversed it to portray jews in a stereotypically negative light.
but why not persecute Jews when they are lazy, have low moral values, deal drugs, commit crimes and everything else for that matter. These people cheat on their taxes, lie cheat and steal.
i'm relatively certain that a number of posters would take offense if i made a blanket generalization about jews in this negative sense. so there is clearly a double standard applied. you can make all the glittering generalizations about jews you want with impunity, yet i cannot counter your positive portrayal with an equally negative counter view. people would consider my statement to be at the very least mean-spirited, and more likely consider it to be bigoted and anti-semitic. yet no one appears to have a problem with your glowing portrayal of jews. hence i find little to gain from specifically addressing your stereotypes about jews when our countering views will not be equally weighed on a level playing field. |
