Do you think that McClintock in his heart believes what he preaches? Does it matter? If he's willing to toe the party line, does it matter? He'll do what the party line requires. When the Central Valley preachers demand he do all he can to stop abortion and get legislation they disapprove of repealed, he'll do it. We have to take him at his word. And an advantage of doing that is if politicians know that will happen, they won't toe the party line hoping to snare some constituency by doing it and at the same time hope you and I will read between their lines. there really aren't that many social conservatives who really practice When it's YOUR foot the shoe is pinching, it's pretty common to look for a cobbler. Or abortion doctor. diehard Reagan supporters in the 70s Reagan was certainly an improvement on his immediate predecessors and successors. He did start state income tax withholding. I've never forgiven him for that.
