Pearly, PEZZ,
as you may or may not know, the unemployment rate and the weekly jobless claims are surveys, not actuals.
In this day and age, there is absolutely no reason why, especially the jobless claims, cannot be actual to the last guy who walked in to the unemployment office Friday pm in Hawaii (that being the latest time zone for US).
In fact, it is such a simple data gathering process that in theory, we can have a break down of unemployment claims broken down by each state, each county, male, female, tall, short, white, green ...... at any given time if there is a desire, instead of relying on some out dated survey methodology.
Unfortunately, the desire is not there. It is much better to have the ability to "seasonally adjust" to come up with the "desired" results.
