Clearly Bill is up for a more serious discussion of the Clinton versus Arnold bit, given that Bill posted the stuff from Andrew Sullivan. So, let's go there for a moment.

My conclusion is that Arnold's stuff is more alarming than the Clinton stuff. I get there on the following basis.

1. The harassment charges brought against Clinton were generated within the context of a clear right wing campaign against his presidency, funded by it, and then pushed forward and given quasi-legal status by a clearly highly partisan Ken Starr. The harassment charges brought against Arnold are brought by an investigative staff of a well respected newspaper. Are either set true? Who knows. But the process that generates the charges make the Arnold charges more like the Whitewater charges against Clinton generated, largely, by Jeff Gerth of the New York Times.

2. Arnold admitted to such behavior; Clinton only admitted to the Lewinsky stuff.

3. Clinton, best I can tell, and I'm guessing, was guilty only of having affairs; Arnold is likely guilty of at least unwanted advances, perhaps more.

4. One of the great ironies of the moment is that the Reps thought they had a lock on the "integrity and character" issue; looks to me as if they've now squandered it with their support for Arnold.

Your turn. Oh, I should repeat I have no serious interest in any of this.
