You are talking the population of Russia, not the former Soviet Union. Right? From what I have read, the current population of Russia is around 150 Million.

re:"that does not add up. Population of Russia in 1917 when purges started was 90 mil. By the 1940s it was mostly all over short of post war trans-cybirean railroad and few things like that. Population of Russia by the beginning of the war was around 115 mil."
