I have been reading Isaiah 17 and some other chapters. It's interesting but I don't know what to make of it yet. A couple passages suggest that Damascus will be uninhabitable after it's destruction. 9 And the land will be a desolation. and 11 In a day of sickness and incurable pain. (sounds like it could possibly be chemical/biological or nuclear)

Damascus has been destroyed twice and a new city rebuilt on "ancient ruins" from what I can find.

In the next chapter, 18, some have said that chapter is about the United States. It certainly has many similarities.
