SAVE will copy your data to a file that is identical to the original file in every respect, except for the contents.

SAVE AS will give you the option of changing some of the characteristics of the file such as the filename or type. SAVE AS can also cause the data to be saved in a different format. Example: A MS-WORD document saved as a plain text file.
