Vendor's new international office signs one of pan-Europe's largest SFA deals
TAMPA, Fla., July 31 -- PowerCerv (Nasdaq: PCRV), a leading supplier of client/server business applications, has announced the signing of a large site license contract calling for SNS bank in the Netherlands to use PowerCerv's sales force automation software in over 310 branches to improve customer relationships and cross-market new products to its customer base.
The implementation will serve as many as 2,000 users, including bank personnel and those at the affiliated SNS Reaal Group, making it one of Europe's largest sales force automation projects. PowerCerv's ADAPTlication for Sales Force Automation (SFA) will provide SNS with a consolidated account view of legacy data, opportunity profiles, soft information about individual customers and marketing campaigns for the first time. This will enable personal bankers, tellers, loan officers and other sales representatives to get a complete picture of customer needs that can be used to help cross-sell personal loans, savings accounts, mortgages, insurance and other financial products and services.
"With the heavy competition produced by the deregulation of the banking industry in Europe, you have to get everything you can out of each contact with a client, and PowerCerv's SFA system is the cornerstone of our strategy for doing that," said SNS Marketing Manager Herke Douw. "By allowing us to capture more information about the retail and wholesale customers who comprise our client base, it will give the people in our branches the ability to work proactively to increase our cross-selling ratio."
A Coup for a New European Player
The SNS contract is the second of its kind for PowerCerv's new international operations, launched near Amsterdam last year. PowerCerv also has signed a site license contract with the European headquarters of Tip Trailer Rental that will serve more than 800 users in 10 countries. PowerCerv's SFA application is giving the company an advanced contact management system as well as remote data synchronization capabilities that can be used to create quotations in the field.
"These contracts reflect the increasing recognition by European companies that they need new tools to compete in today's deregulated environment," said Nick Hewson, president of the U.K.-based Hewson Group, a leading analyst in the sales and marketing application systems market. "The SNS contract in particular is significant because the number of users involved makes it one of the largest sales force automation projects in Europe, and the fact that it is occurring in a country where deregulation hit early indicates that sales automation will become an essential business strategy as the effects of deregulation become clearer elsewhere in Europe," Hewson said.
Latest Bank to Choose PowerCerv
SNS selected PowerCerv's SFA product because of its broad range of capabilities, particularly the versatility of its sales and marketing tracks, and its ability to be quickly and continuously customized via open, industry-standard object-oriented architecture to meet the bank's evolving needs, Douw said. The bank also was attracted by the successful track record of PowerCerv's technical staff in delivering large projects and the security and flexibility offered by PowerCerv's policy of providing the source code, he said.
SNS joins other large financial institutions in the U.S. that have selected PowerCerv's SFA software, including Long Island Savings Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Fleet Mortgage and Barnett Banks of Florida. The Barnett Banks implementation will be one of the largest, with plans to serve more than 5,000 sales agents in the bank's large branch network.
Targeting Financial Institutions
"The SNS contract reflects our success in targeting large financial institutions and other companies that are planning pan-European implementations of SFA/customer relationship management software," said Scott Cabral, PowerCerv's International Marketing Manager. "Our experience in the financial sector in the States as well as the robustness and adaptability of our application give us a strong competitive advantage that enabled us to edge out more established vendors in the European market and that will serve us in good stead as we gain a foothold here."
ADAPTlication Suite
PowerCerv's ADAPTlication for SFA is part of a suite that also includes packages for Financials, Customer Support, Distribution and Manufacturing. All of these "adaptable applications," specifically engineered to accommodate the rapid change necessary for sustaining competitive advantage, are usable out of the box or customizable via PowerCerv's Object Extensible Architecture.
They function either as standalone packages or as enterprise-wide solutions that can be integrated with each other or with third-party applications. |
