Karen, my guess is neither of us knows squat about the Wilson stuff beyond what we read in the papers. But, at least at the moment, it looks to me as if her maiden name was no secret, that she married Joe Wilson was no secret. The secret was that rather than working for some "energy company" she worked for the CIA. And once that fact came out, the cover provided by the "energy company" label also went away, not only for her but for all the CIA employees who used it. Not a small thing.

I continue to be impressed with the damage the Reps are doing to themselves on two issues which have been central to their political claims--the character issue which Arnold undermines and the national security issue which outing a CIA agent for revenge undermines.

I don't know whether these issues have serious political legs or not. None of us will be able to tell for a while. But it is certainly ironic and, possibly, has serious long term consequences for them.
