Brooks Automation Elects Two New Members to Board of Directors

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/-- Brooks Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: BRKS - News), which delivers total automation for semiconductor manufacturing and related industries, today announced that two new independent directors have been elected to its Board of Directors. Effective October 1, 2003, A. Clinton Allen of Cambridge, Massachusetts and John K. McGillicuddy of Wayland, Massachusetts join the Board of Directors of Brooks, bringing to eight the number of directors.
Mr. Allen is the lead director and chairman of the audit committee of Steinway Musical Instruments, chairman of Collectors Universe and a director of Integrated Alarm Systems, Inc., all of which are publicly traded companies. He has previously served as chairman and CEO of Burgess & Leith/Advest and as a director of Blockbuster, Inc. and Swiss Army Brands. Mr. Allen is a graduate of Harvard University.
Mr. McGillicuddy is a retired audit partner of the accounting firm of KPMG LLP where he specialized in the high technology, manufacturing and retail segments. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of and chairman of the audit committee for Watts Industries, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange traded company, and the past chairman of the Better Business Bureau of Massachusetts. Mr. McGillicuddy is a graduate of Boston College.
