If the Times were a tabloid, this would hardly matter. But the newspaper is influential at times, and claims it has high standards.

When I lived in LA, around 20 years ago, I got to the point where reading the LA Times in the morning almost made me spew my breakfast, especially the op-ed section. It was with huge relief that I discovered the Orange County Register, ocregister.com , a bastion of reason and common sense in Southern California...
