The 59 points were also the most allowed by a Dennis Franchione-coached team. The previous opponent high was 52 points by Southern Methodist in a 52-31 SMU victory over New Mexico in 1996. The three receiving touchdowns by Tech's Nehemiah Glover matched an A&M opponent record that was originally set in 1963 by Baylor's Lawrence Elkins and matched again by Pittsburgh's Larry Fitzgerald earlier this season. The Aggies' first score of the game--a 3-yard run by Courtney Lewis in the second quarter--ended a string of nine quarters without an offensive touchdown by the Aggies at Jones SBC Stadium. It also ended a five quarter scoreless streak by the Aggies at Jones. Redshirt freshman Chad Schroeder made the first two catches of his A&M career against the Red Raiders. He finished the night with two catches for 40 yards. Game captains were sophomore safety Jaxson Appel, junior running back Dere Farmer, senior cornerback Sean Weston and junior center Geoff Hangartner. The Aggies' 12th Man Kickoff team representative was Blake Kendrick, a junior linebacker from Willis, Texas. It marked Kendrick's fourth game as the 12th Man. The Aggies won the toss for just the second time this season to break a three-game streak of losing the toss.
