Pat,

I am addressing my last response to you, as the most frequent poster on this thread, but the post is for everyone. I hope I am not blowing too much hot air, but I'm allowed to vent on my last post.

After giving it due thought, I have decided not to participate in a McCarthy era witchhunt. There is no doubt witches may be found, but also the good goes out with the bad. Some individuals criticize those with an alias and/or no e-mail address. I note that the complainers do not work in a field where they may find careers at risk for using real names and addresses. Those with the least to lose often shout the loudest. I do not take for granted or trust that any potential situation may or may not development from sending in information to SI. Far too much jeopardy involved. The whole thread has lost from this experience. It is also an embarrassment that it happened here first (and hopefully last).

Some final parting advice:

1) Never believe any assumptions or conjectures (pro or con) on a thread until the reality comes to pass. There have been many statements made about potential partnerships, contract announcements, timeframes for events to happen, etc.Believe it when it happens.
2) Try giving more thought to those with less then positive remarks. It is natural for a thread to be biased on the side of a stock people own. But when opposing points of view that may be valid are drowned out with personal attacks, the entire thread loses. Remember it is easy to be an optimist on a company you own, much harder to look at the negative side of things to form and balance a realistic judgment.
3) If you believe in it, stick with it. It just may take longer to realize that pot of gold then first thought. Keep tabs to make sure the gold mine is not a Bre-X in disguise.
4) Know that gold is a speculative commodity in the stock market. There is no such item as a sure thing. At this point in time, no xDSL stock is a sure thing. Some hold more promise than others, though.
5) When you see a press announcement, don't try so hard to read between the lines and over-analyze it. Take it for black and white. More often than not, you will never know the real story behind the story.
6) Finally, never believe a vendor at first glance. Vendors do not control the events, or the purse strings. Put more analysis into the telco. And realize even contacts at a telco will say certain things that can enhance their position or their company's position if they think it will land in a public thread. Statements may be far off-base.

It really is a shame what happened here. Hypothetically, one of the individuals on the list could have been on a telco ADSL deployment team, at liberty to say only so much.

It has been a joy talking to so many of you. Good luck with all your investments.

Mike
