No, I didn't mean that. I only worried that your personal attachment to Jewels as his long-time friend might lend an unwarranted snidery and haughtiness to your posts which I would rather not deal with this evening. I prefer more detached and impartial discussions, which is why I sometimes hesitate to engage those whom one expects to defend a cherished person on the basis of friendship rather than to structure an argument on the basis of merit.

Indeed, they often state outright that they are defending him or her BECAUSE he or she is "my friend". You have probably encountered such emotional "arguments" before, so you would know what I mean.
