so by lowering the speed limit for *all* you reduce the carnage that is done by the few...

the few, the proud... no, just kidding... well, they (or we) would be few IF the licensing granting requirements would be real tests to see if "we" can operate our own motor vehicles.

Therefore... the carnage would be reduced because the actual licensed operators would be less moronic in their actions.

there's no question that the higher the speed, the less your reaction time...

Partially correct, since the "alertness" is another factor. Having said that, I am not "demanding" that "all drivers" operate at 120 mph at all times. Drive where you feel comfortable and mind others...

The point is that the current speed limit has nothing to do with safety, but ALL to do with revenue generation. I mean, the Germans do NOT have ANY speed limit, and yet, there is no "carnage" to speak of; further, even the best of autobahns are no better than many of our interstate highway system sections... I mean... in some areas they are 6 DAMNED LANES WIDE... at 75 mph... it is a an insult to human intelligence.... lolololol

There are some race tracks in Europe that are no wider than a country road....

Again, my point is that the 75 mph is a speed limit for the bombers of the 50's with heavy steel and drum brakes with bulky and inefficient suspension linkages....

NOT the nimble, hard braking and stable fine machines that we have today.... and I am not talking about a Porsche or Ferrari or the like, any reasonable Toyota, Nissan, or even a VW is perfectly capable of performing safely at such speeds(provided the operator is properly trained). and remember, it is an "upper limit" not a "compulsory absolute minimum" -g

Remember.... guns do not kill people, it is the people pulling the trigger that kills... same thing with speed.... it is the moron behind the wheel doing the killing particularly when the person is either incapable, or worse, drunk.... then such driver will be dangerous at ANY speed....

as for being a racing machine.... lol.... 120 mph is not even "warm-up" lap speed... unless of course you are approaching a hairpin turn -gggg
